Italian cyclist Giovanni Iannelli dead at 22 after head hit pillar at 37mph in sprint for finish line

AN Italian cyclist has died after hitting his head on a pillar at 37mph in a tragic accident, splitting his helmet in two.

Giovanni Iannelli, 22, handed away in hospital after emergency surgical procedure failed to avoid wasting his life after he was woken from a coma.

Promising sprinter Iannelli was racing in the Trofeo Bassa Valle Scrivia and was sprinting for the finish line in moist situations, when he hit a concrete pylon head first.

He had been making an attempt to keep away from a crash that occurred seconds earlier than — and the collision was so unhealthy that certainly one of his pedals, normally screwed tight into the crank, was dislodged, in accordance with Il Tirreno.

The collision broke his helmet, in accordance with Gazzetta Dello Sport, and he was airlifted to hospital in Alessandria in northern Italy.

The race finish happened in the small city of Molino dei Torti, an hour south of Milan, after Iannelli had ridden for slightly below three hours at a mean pace of 26mph.

He had been hoping to make it with an enormous workforce in the World Tour, the biking equal of the Champions League, after driving with the Hato Inexperienced Tea Beer workforce.

STUNNED AND SPEECHLESS

A eager traveller, skier and AC Milan fan, in addition to a promising cyclist, Iannelli was keen on posting footage together with his canine and mannequin girlfriend Rebecca.

Rebecca posted a poem on her Instagram with an image of the rider, who she would go to races at to see that he completed.

The Italian biking federation are investigating the incident.

They tweeted: “A tragedy that strikes us and leaves us surprised and speechless.

“The Federation’s thoughts are with the family of Giovanni Iannelli.”
